About the Surgery
Station Drive Surgery is a medical practice situated in the heart of Ludlow.
Our friendly GP Practice currently serves 9,000 patients. Dr Caron Morton and Dr David Mitchell work alongside a large clinical team, providing healthcare for people in Ludlow and the surrounding rural area. We are part of the South West Shropshire Primary Care Network (SW PCN).
We are very much part of our local community. Our clinicians are responsible for providing medical cover for Ludlow Hospital and we work closely alongside the community teams providing care at home for services such as IV antibiotics, full palliative care/palliative care at home, and supporting the out-of-hours Shropdoc sessions. The surgery also provides space for additional services such as Echocardiography, Hidden Hearing, and Specialised Pain Clinics.
We work closely with our Patients’ Group and with the local charity Hands Together Ludlow in supporting our community – visit the Hands Together Ludlow website to learn more
Station Drive Surgery is an accredited teaching Practice and we often have medical students, student doctors and GP registrars with us. This includes:
- Year 5 (final year) and Year 3 Keele medical students
- Foundation Year doctors, who are fully qualified registered doctors undertaking their 2-year postgraduate medical training
- GP Registrars, who are fully qualified registered doctors and have completed their Foundation Years and have chosen to specialise in General Practice.

Care Quality Commission
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) makes sure hospitals, care homes, dental and GP surgeries, and all other care services in England provide people with safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care and encourages them to make improvements where possible.
Our overall CQC Rating was: GOOD
Patient Participation Group (PPG)
The Practice strives to provide excellent healthcare. We welcome constructive feedback and suggestions to help shape our services to serve the needs of all of our patients. Our Patient Participation Group (PPG) meets at the practice to provide a forum for discussion about the practice.
